Organic Fruit Tree Series for Small-Scale Farmers—In Person!

with Instructor Orin Martin at the Alan Chadwick Garden at UC Santa Cruz

We’re excited to offer a series of four seasonal workshops for small orchard care through the year! Our intent is to engage a cohort of small-scale farmers who can attend all four sessions to learn as a community. Spanish interpretation is available for these free in-person workshops.

This short course series will follow the life and care of fruit trees through the four seasons. The focus will primarily be on apples and pears.

Session 4: Spring Seasonal Updates and Care
This session will provide you with the spring seasonal update and in which we discuss, look at, and answer spring-specific questions such as: how the blooms are doing, how are crops progressing, and what the best practices are at this time in the season.

In addition to the in-person workshop, registered participants will receive free instructional videos. Although we will be demonstrating on a garden scale, the techniques and methods are field and farm scale applicable.

These free courses are being offered by the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology at the Alan Chadwick Garden on the UC Santa Cruz campus with support from a California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA) Specialty Crop Block Grant.
