Research to Policy Program Team Workshop:

What Public(s) Do We Serve? Navigating the Role of Extension in Policy and Community-based Engagement

Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Putah Creek Lodge
Thursday, April 11, 2019 at UC ANR, 2801 Second Street, Davis, CA

Purpose: CE colleagues from diverse disciplines will share their insights into effective strategies and approaches to building mutually beneficial relationships and networks in their communities, as well as candidly discuss how they decided which groups to work with. With a particular orientation towards helping newer UCCE hires, they will address how to assess the landscape of opportunity of organizations or groups you may possibly want to connect with, how to proactively reach out to groups and do so effectively, and how to respond to being approached. In the spirit of co-learning, the workshop format will be discussion-based rather than didactic. We hope to spark of process of self-inquiry for both presenters and participants, as we collectively think about how each of our specific lines of work fits into the land grant mission of public value, and what public(s) it does (or does not) serve.
