Evaluating the Use of a Multi-Drone System to Monitor Rangeland Landscapes

Q & A

Q -   Is the software for sale? If so, what is it called?

A -  I'm attaching the paper that describes the software. It should pop up in the chat in a couple of minutes.

Q -  I'm curious about the relative trade-offs between using multiple quadcopters with limited range versus a single higher quality aircraft with much greater range.

Q -  What would a survey like this cost?

Q -  What advantages do these image mosaics have over satellite imagery?

A -  This method will provide more detailed (i.e., smaller pixel size) than many satellites (but not all). In addition, future applications can attach tools other than cameras (like trace gas sensors to measure grassland respiration), which would also be an advantage over satellites. But not to say that satellites aren't also a useful too for rangelands, they certainly are, just depends on the question.

Q -  What process and software will you use for image classification?

Q -  How did it go identifying and quantifying individual species of grassland herbaceous plants?
