Raising bees is a fascinating, fun and rewarding endeavor that many enjoy in their own backyards. In recent years, backyard beekeeping has grown in popularity in San Diego County. However, it requires planning, knowledge and a modest investment of time and money to be successful and safe.  Learn more about these ten steps of considerations and practices recommended by the University of California Cooperative Extension, which when followed, will help you be a successful beekeeper. 

 

This site provides education and outreach to the public and beekeepers to protect public safety within San Diego County in response to the the new apiary ordinance. The site has been developed by the University of California Cooperative Extension - Farm and Home Advisers Office in San Diego County with support from the San Diego County - Agriculture, Weights, and Measures Office.
