Hive location is important for you, your neighbors, the community and the honey bees.

Be certain honey bee hives are allowed in the area you are considering for your hive and that required distances from property lines, structures and sensitive site areas can be met. It is also vital that there are adequate water and food sources nearby.

To learn more about the placement of your hives, see the Apiary Location and Installation page on this site.

Step 5-01

The site has been developed by the University of California Cooperative Extension - Farm and Home Advisers Office in San Diego County with support from the San Diego County - Agriculture, Weights, and Measures Office.
