Life Skills Festival
THE 4-H EXPERIENCE
The Head, Heart, Hands, and Health Festival!
Curious what 4-H is about? Want to see what 4-Hers have been doing this year? Join us at The 4-H Experience to see, learn, and do!
DATE: April 29, 2023
TIME: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM (Awards at 1:00 PM)
LOCATION: San Carlos Library Community Rooms
4-H members participate in sewing, food, and craft projects throughout the year, creating a wonderful array of handmade goods and visual arts that are showcased during this event. Come cheer on 4-H'ers as they compete at the county level.
- Sewing, wearable arts, and consumer clothing purchase challenges are judged during Fashion Revue on fit, modeling, and presentation. There are many new categories this year, and youth do not need to be a member of a sewing project to participate in all of the categories.
- For the Favorite Foods Day traditional competition, members must prepare a dish, place setting, and menu display. Each contestant should be knowledgeable about the preparation of their dish and the nutritional value of the entire menu. Competitors must be enrolled in a 4-H food project to participate, but there is the Pack a Healthy Lunch Challenge that is open to all 4-H'ers.
- The Arts, Crafts and Creative Exhibits expo is a handcraft and other project competition open to all 4-H members, regardless of 4-H project enrollment. We encourage you to also consider entering your handmade items to the San Mateo County Fair.
NEW THIS YEAR: Recycled craft category, which encourage youth to create something out of items that would normally go into the trash
- Virtual Film Festival. This contest gives youth an opportunity to show their creative visual artwork in the categories of animation, documentary, drama, comedy, promotional and commercial. We will show some of the videos at the award ceremony.
