California air temperature maps

Californians considering solarization for disinfesting soil of pests can now access monthly, statewide temperature maps to help in the decision regarding suitable times of the year for conducting treatment.

Monthly air temperature maximum averages, collected over the last 30 years, have been woven into maps for warmer periods (May to October); while a single map depicts temperatures during the cooler months (December to February). In addition, a 10-year average map, showing the number of days in July with air temperature maxima of 95 F (35 C) or greater, also is available.  The other months of the year will be added to this collection as the data are developed.
