California's Landmark School Garden Legislation
For more than a century, California has been a leader in the school garden movement. Recent supporters of school gardens in California include the state's First Lady, Maria Shriver. In 2006, the California Legislature passed Assembly Bill 1535, the California School Instructional Garden Act, which provides $15 million for new and ongoing garden efforts.
