The 2019 UC Riverside Turfgrass & Landscape Field Day is dedicated in memory of Stephen T. Cockerham, 1939-2018, a leader in athletic field management and cornerstone of the UCR Turfgrass program. From 1983-2009, Steve served at UCR as the Superintendent of Agricultural Operations, which oversees maintenance of the Turfgrass Research Facility. During his tenure, Steve conducted extensive research and outreach with his colleagues, especially Dr. Victor Gibeault, his best friend. During his retirement and until his passing, Steve continued turfgrass research at UCR, which will be highlighted at this year's event.
