Dr. Melvin George is UC Cooperative Extension Rangeland Management Specialist, Emeritus. He is a member of the Plant Sciences Department at UC Davis. Dr. George has been a UCCE Specialist since 1978. Prior to that he was on the faculty of College of Agriculture at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo. Dr. George conducts extension education and research programs in grazing management, rangeland inventory and monitoring and water quality. Dr. George is Director of the California Rangeland Research and Information Center and Chair of the ANR Rangeland Watershed Workgroup. Dr. George has received several awards. In 2007 he was recipient of the James H. Meyer Outstanding Achievement Award and in 2008 he was named Outstanding Alumnus of Cal State Chico’s College of Agriculture.
