Crew Boss Trainings in SLO and Ventura Counties
This month, the Citrus Pest & Disease Prevention Program is hosting free workshops in the Central Coast to educate front-line leaders about best practices to prevent the spread of Asian citrus psyllids in the field. Growers and packers are encouraged to send crew bosses, foremen, ranch managers and packinghouse representatives to this hands-on learning experience.
Presented in Spanish, these trainings will inform front-line leaders in the field about what they can do to reduce the risk of spreading Huanglongbing and the Asian citrus psyllid at work. During the workshop, participants will:
- Understand the threat of the Asian citrus psyllid and Huanglongbing to their livelihoods in the citrus industry
- Become familiar with best practices for field crews to keep ACP from spreading on plant material, equipment and personal items that leave the field
- Practice using effective communication techniques to help their crews and others understand these best practices and why they are required
The Department of Pesticide Regulation has approved two hours of continuing education units for this workshop.
