Our Community Partners
California Native Plant Society - Napa Valley Chapter
The California Native Plant Society Napa Valley Chapter and the UC Master Gardeners of Napa County believe in gardening with plants appropriate to our mediterranean climate. Utilizing California Native plants in our gardens accomplishes this goal. We staff an informational table at their bi-annual plant sale that is held at Skyline Park near the Martha Walker Native Habitat garden.
City of Calistoga Water Conservation Department
UC Master Gardeners partnered with the City of Calistoga, DEXTER estate landscapes, Noble Gardens, Calistoga Garden Club, SBI Materials and Landscape Supplies, Central Valley Builders Supply, and Pacific Tree Care to create a demonstration garden in front of the police station. This joint effort with labor and materials provided by all listed above created a demonstration of a low water use landscape to replace a lawn. This is the current plant material list.
City of Napa, Napa County, Waste Management Services
We work along side these three groups to do a series of compost education workshops each year. In 2013, UC Master Gardeners of Napa County taught 9 workshops; 7 on general compost methods and 2 on worm composting. We meet once a year to plan dates, with the co-operators handling the scheduling, locations and reservations.
City of Napa Parks and Recreation Department
We are working with the City of Napa at the Fuller Park in downtown Napa for Guided Tree Walks and the Fuller Park Rose Garden refurbishing.
City of Napa Water Department Water-Wise Education
UC Master Gardeners and Napa City Water department share the goal of educating home gardeners about water conservation in landscapes. We assist and teach some of the workshops that Napa City hosts regarding water-wise landscaping, and we participate in the Bay Friendly Garden Tour May 20, 2018.
We staff a garden focused activity at their once a month Walk-in-Wednesday held in the afternoon on the first Wednesday of each month year round, time varies by season.
Napa Communities Firewise Foundation
We share an objective with Napa Firewise Communities Foundation to provide the residents of Napa County information regarding the selection of fire-wise vegetation in order to make good choices in landscaping. The Demonstration Garden at Connolly Ranch has a section that showcases a variety of fire-wise plants.
Napa County Resource Conservation District
The Napa Master Gardeners promote good stewardship of our watersheds through education and sustainable gardening practices. For this reason we partner with Napa County Resource Conservation District. The RCD is committed to using scientifically sound methods to ensure that the natural resources of our watersheds are sustained, restored and protected.
Napa Valley CanDo is a diverse group of Napa County residents inspired to serve and committed to bettering the Napa Valley communities through education about volunteer opportunities. CanDo CanGrow and members of the Napa Master Gardeners maintain a large plot at the Napa Community Garden where food is grown for the Food Pantry in Napa.
St. Helena Library
UC Master Gardeners have partnered with the St. Helena library to create a small pollinator garden at the back of the library. This demonstration garden illustrates a way to create a haven for pollinators even in a small narrow garden. See our our garden map.
Town of Yountville Parks & Recreation Department
We partner with the Town of Yountville Parks & Recreation Department to do public workshops throughout the year. We also hold our UC Master Gardeners of Napa County monthly continuing education seminars in their facility.
