REQUEST FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS

West Side Research & Extension Center (WSREC) of the University of California is soliciting proposals for new and continuing research and demonstration projects for the period January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.

Located on 320 acres in the San Joaquin Valley, WSREC has land suitable for growing row, orchard and field crops, including vegetable crops, agronomic crops, trees, vines and turf grass. We also have some limited locations and water supplies suitable for small scale studies using saline irrigation water. Approximately 7,500 hours of research center agricultural technician labor is available during the year to support approved projects. The WSREC is located in western Fresno County about 45 miles west of Highway 99 and the city of Fresno and about 7 miles east of Interstate 5. With the current drought conditions in California, including the Central San Joaquin Valley where WSREC is located, irrigation water supplies may be limited and we expect to use more well water if we don't have a favorable 2015/2016 winter. If possible, keep those conditions in mind when you figure project acreage requests and submit your new research project proposals.

To Submit a Proposal: Using your UC ANR (Agricultural and Natural Resources) Portal (https://ucanr.edu/portal), go to the "Universal Review System Section" and under "Open Systems" select "West Side Research & Extension Center 2015 Call for Proposals". The "New Proposal" form needed for your submission is located on the right hand side. Fill out the Proposal form and then submit it using the create proposal button at the bottom of the page. Proposals are due no later than Monday, November 9, 2015.
