How to Create Subtitles:

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. In Left Hand Navigation, click on YouTube Studio (or click on Your Videos)
  3. In Left Naviation element, click on Content.
  4. From the Left Hand Navigation, select Subtitles.
  5. Click the video that you'd like to edit.
  6. Click ADD LANGUAGE and select your language.
  7. Under subtitles, click ADD.
  8. You'll have the option of Uploading a text file of your captions, auto syncing the captions with voice, typing captions manually and auto translation.
  9. Usually, by default YouTube will add Auto Captioning. I find this a good place to start, and then Edit the Captions as the AI usually makes mistakes.

 

Subtitles need to be enabled by the Creator.

  1. Auto Sync - Captioning - Uses AI to add captions in a reasonable but not totally accurate way. You can edit the Auto Generated Captions

  4. Type manually

Creator Needs to translate to a different language. Auto-translate as user setting. User can change color of text and background color, etc.

TRANSCRIPTS:

  1. Can be auto generated, manually generated when editing video, or created manually in a text file, and uploaded to YouTube.
