4-H Tech Wizards Mentor Job Description

TIME COMMITMENT:      

Training: Thursday March 14, 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Marguerite Maze Middle School - 900 Meridian Street, Hollister. Room G1.  Additional trainings TBD throughout the course of the project. 

Mentoring: Weekly on Thursdays beginning March 21, 2019 from 3:45  - 5:30pm through April 30, 2020

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:        

Marguerite Maze CASA Afterschool Site Coordinator

 

RESPONSIBLE FOR:        

Mentoring a group for four 6th and 7th grade students weekly by engaging them in hands-on science activities at Marguerite Maze school.

QUALIFICATIONS:                

  • Age: Fifteen years or older
  • Desire and ability to work with middle school-aged children
  • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team
  • Openness to working with diverse populations
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Time to give to the project
  • Enthusiasm for the project and openness to learn

 SPECIFIC TASKS:      

  • Attend the 4-H Tech Wizards Mentoring workshops
  • Meet with the site team to plan and organize weekly science sessions
  • Come prepared to the weekly sessions
  • Teach hands-on science to students after school once weekly
  • Meet with the 4-H Tech Wizards Mentoring coordinator to assess the program
  • Be encouraging and establish relationships with mentees
  • Contribute to the program evaluation
