Bay Coast Area is organizing a new conference for youth 11-13 years of age. The Conference Leadership Team 2018 will be selected from a pool of applicants who will be considered on the basis of a written online application, a letter of recommendation from a 4-H leader, and the completion of a formal interview.

Members of the Conference Leadership Team will meet regularly during the year to prepare for the Conference. Please realize the commitment you make when you apply to be part of this dynamic team.

EXTENDED DUE DATE: APRIL 16th.

A complete application includes:

  • This application

  • Recommendation survey completed by a 4-H leader

Interviews will be held on April 22nd from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, during the North Bay Coast Area Field Day at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, 2004 Fairground Rd, Monterey, CA.

Interviews will be scheduled around your participation in the Field Day events.

If you have extenuating circumstances and are unable to attend, a phone interview can be arranged.

2018 Staff Expectations

Members of the Bay Coast Area Conference Leadership Team will:

  • Commit to the ‘team’ aspect of being on staff

  • Be at least 14 years old by for the 2017/18 4-H year

  • Have attended a Sectional/Area Leadership Conference

  • Be willing to assume assigned tasks

  • Be flexible, friendly and open-minded

  • Possess the ability to work as a member of a dynamic team

  • Commit to the time commitment needed to plan and implement the Conference

  • Be self motivated to accomplish tasks in a timely manner

  • Commit to timely responses to emails and correspondence

Time Commitment: 

  • Staff meetings - TBD

  • Staff Overnight Retreat - Fall 2017

  • Staff Meeting & workshop/cabin leader training - all day meeting - early January

  • Sub Committee Meetings as needed, in person or via online chat

  • Extensive email communication

  • Time needed to complete assigned duties – dependent on job

Staff Positions Available on the Conference Leadership Team

Co-chairs – Work with Conference Leadership Team to plan and implement the Conference. Duties include but are not limited to: maintaining a staff contact list, overseeing staff members on their teams, creating a calendar and setting staff deadlines, leading staff meetings, creating a budget, ensuring staff communication (email, social media, text group, etc.), presiding over opening conference assembly, hosting chaperone meeting at start of conference, & interviewing staff for the following year conference. Co-Chairs will also represent the Conference and its needs on the 2017-2018 Bay Coast Area Committee.

Teams include Education, Assemblies, Recreation, & Logistics. Each Co-Chair works with two of these teams each.

Education Team: Work as a team to determine the educational outcome of the Conference and organize workshops.

Assemblies Team: Work as a team to organize assemblies.

Recreation Team: Work as a team to organize recreational activities.

Logistics Team: Work as a team on pre-conference planning.
