Course Schedule

The full course will be held March 23rd to April 2nd, 2020 and includes nine full days of instruction. The first five days will be held at the UC Davis campus and include lectures, laboratory exercises, and field demonstrations. Check-in begins at 7:30am on Monday, March 23rd and the last on-campus lecture ends at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27th

The following week participants embark upon a field trip through fruit and nut tree growing regions of Northern and Central California. On March 30th, we head north from Davis toward Corning and come back to Davis in the evening. From March 31st to April 2nd, we head south in the California Central Valley, and stay in Selma, CA for two nights. 

More detailed information on location and schedule will be sent to registered participants closer to the beginning of the course. 


Participants have the option to participate and pay for one or two weeks of the course.

The price for the one week lecture/labs course that runs from March 23rd through March 27th is $1975, and includes course materials, small breakfast/coffee breaks and lunches and an evening graduation reception. Accommodation is not included during the first week of the course.

The price for the first and second week of the course is $2975. This option includes everything mentioned above, transportation during the field tours, one lunch and a group dinner. The remaining meals are not included in the price. Participants are also responsible for their overnight stay in Davis on March 30th. Please make your own reservation at a local hotel of your choice. 

Additionally, $215 is asked for the two nights field tour lodging (in Selma), for a total of $3190 for the two weeks. If you do not wish to stay at the hotel with the group, you are free to find your own lodging and not pay the $215. However, note that transport to and from different hotels or your home will not be provided. 

Registration is requested no later than February 1st, 2020

Refunds, less a $150 processing fee, will be granted if requested no later than February 1st, 2020

NOTE: Field tour lodging payments are also NOT refundable after February 1st, 2020.


Yolo County Visitors Bureau ( provides information on travel to Davis, including information on the airport shuttle, taxi services, and train and bus travel, as well as a list of accommodations. 

1st week

Participants are responsible for their own accommodation (reservations and payment) during the first week of the course.

Participants will have access to a non-secured campus guest wireless account that is available throughout the entire UC Davis campus.

2nd week

Participants are also responsible for their overnight stay in Davis on March 30th. Please make your own reservation at a local hotel of your choice. 

Participants in the two week course are asked to pay for their two nights field tour (March 31th to April 1st) lodging upon enrollment. If you do not wish to stay at the hotel, do not check the $215 option. In this case, be aware that you will have to be at the group hotel at the requested time to be able to attend that day's tour.  The price for the field tour hotel in Selma includes tax, internet, and continental breakfasts for both nights.

During the second week, you will be responsible for your own meals except for those specifically noted in the program.


Registration is requested no later than February 1st, 2020.  We reserve the right to discontinue, postpone, or combine classes, and to change instructors.  Every effort will be made to notify enrollees of any changes or cancellations.
