Can you EAT your landscape? Raspberries are so expensive in the grocery store (and always will be) because they have shelf life of an ice cream cone in 90 degree heat. Yet it is so easy to grow your own, no spraying and only one annual pruning … and so delicious! Picking fresh produce from your yard doesn't just mean going to the vegetable garden. Edible landscapes are becoming more and more popular with homeowners. Planting an edible landscape means many of the plants around your home will have edible fruits, foliage, or roots. If there are young children in your life, they will be much more excited about eating berries in the garden than going to any restaurant. You too may find new meaning in “going out to eat”! El Dorado County Master Gardeners are offering a free class on Edible Landscaping to help you explore the options. Learn which herbs, trees, and shrubs look good and taste good in the landscape.
