Biography

I was raised in Merced, CA and attended Merced College, Butte College, Cal Poly SLO (B.S. Fruit Science, 1984), and UC Davis (M.S. Horticulture, 1988). I joined Sacramento County Cooperative Extension as an advisor in June 1996. Before that, for seven years I was a tree & vine information analyst at the statewide UC Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education Program in Davis.

Education

M.S. Horticulture, UC Davis. 1988
B.S. Fruit Science, Cal Poly, SLO. 1984

Specialty

Tree crops, grapes and strawberries, environmental horticulture, and Master Gardeners/urban horticulture. Areas of research and extension focus include IPM, evaluation of sustainable products and practices, water conservation and deficit irrigation, home orchards and vineyards, sustainable landscaping, alternative turfgrass species, and tree training, pruning, and grafting.
