Biography
I am a Community Education Specialist for the UC Cooperative Extension in Mariposa County. I'll be working to educate and encourage the use of prescribed fire in Mariposa, Merced, Madera, and Fresno county communities. I'm originally from San Diego where I received a B.A. from SDSU in Geography/Anthropology in 2009. I'm currently working on a Masters in Natural Resources with a Fire Ecology graduate certificate from the University of Idaho. After a year as an archaeologist I've spent the past decade working in 5 national parks on non-native invasive plant mitigation, native plant nursery propagation and seed collection, and restoration/re-vegetation projects. Currently I've worked for Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks collecting fire ecology field data, participating in annual prescribed burns, and as a Resource Adviser and Fire Archaeologist on wildfire incidents. My passion is in creating healthy, resilient ecosystems with fire and how that translates into healthy fire safe communities with natural and cultural landscapes.
