There is something about Praying Mantises that leads to readily anthropomorphising them. Perhaps it is the mobile head and neck, which gives an impression they are "paying attention" in a human manner. That is not to say they are not, as they watch for predators and you did a good job, Kathy, along with your always excellent photography.
