If you have visited the Placer County 4-H website lately, it is quite evident that there has been many recent changes to the website layout. I know that in this modern time, 4-H families are incredibly busy and unable to always attain resources in person from the County Extension Office. Thus, we are revamping the website to help suit the needs of our 4-H’ers spread throughout Placer County to have access to resources and stay connected without leaving their homes as much.
Changes will continue in the next couple months, as well, and if you ever have any questions navigating the website please contact the 4-H Office. In conjunction, to website updates we have added the Placer 4-H Blog, which will be a Placer County 4-H Community Blog. This blog is intended to be another platform for staff, youth members, adult volunteers, and key community members involved with 4-H to post content that is informative, educational and/or helpful. Approval to post will come through myself, as 4-H Program Representative, but I am really hoping for the blog to be an open platform to discuss a range of topics from upcoming educational field days to equipment sales to local shows in the area. My approval process will be mainly focused on material being appropriate for online distribution or not.
As for special opportunities in the next coming months that I do want to mention now, are the Large Animal Session on January 29th at 6:30 pm (4-H Office) and the Placer/Gold Country Fair Informational Session on February 20th at 6:30 pm (Fairgrounds-Tahoe Building). Please don’t forget about Still Exhibits on February 1st at Mt. Vernon Grange from 9 am to 12 pm, as well. Great opportunity for youth to experience all that is offered within 4-H that is non-animal.
I hope everyone’s holiday season went well, and I am excited for a new year with Placer County 4-H. Welcome to 2014!
