I also love my hummingbirds and I have filled my landscape with many of the same plants. They also love my hibiscus. They always build their nests in my crape myrtle trees and many times build two nests. I have watched the nests being built and then the two eggs are laid. Once it was digit from the sun that the mother sat up on the nest and shaded the newly hatched babies. I talk to my hummers also and they come right up to me and my black lab and drink from the spray of water when I water. Hummingbirds use spider webs to build their nests do that the nests will expand as the babies grow. It's cute to watch them put their little bottoms in the air to do their poopies out of the nest. I think that the babies stay around the best area long after mom moves on to begin her 2nd nest. My sugar water feeders are well used but usually there is one aggressive make who controls who can eat there!!!

Oddly, the hummingbirds like my hanging basket of "Creeping Charlie", which decided to bloom late summer. I am going to try to propagate with cuttings & start new baskets. When I have something, I will let you know. Diana Smith
