University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), Sonoma County is conducting a survey to determine the future direction of our local 4-H program. Your input is invaluable to this process. We want to make our local 4-H program an example that demonstrates leadership, community involvement and career building for our youth. Using this information, we will conduct a strategic planning session this May, which will create a framework for the next generation of 4-H leaders, members and our local program. Please use this opportunity to express your visions for a 4-H program that reaches new heights for our youth.
Please complete this survey and return it by May 4th, 2015. Earn a 4-H Mall gift card for your participation! Encourage your members and leaders to respond and have the highest percentage of responses for your membership and earn a 4-H Mall Gift card! Three gift cards will be awarded! CHICKENQUE COUNTDOWN!
We are not having official rep meeting this week, April 23. Stefanie and I will be at the center at 7pm to hand out pre-ordered t-shirts and tickets. If you are interested in your clubs volunteer sign ups, please email Janet at chickenque2015@yahoo.com.
We are still in need of BBQers, grill loaders, pressure washers, Saturday set up and Sunday take down.
If you have pre-ordered t-shirts and can't make it Thursday, let me know and I'll make other arrangements. We will have more shirts for sale at the event for the same price, $10.
Re:Club/Project booths. Each club has the opportunity to earn up to $100 by having two booths at the event. We are reaching out to our local schools, advertising on Froggy, KTRY and KZST, and during our event, Just Between Friends, Kids and Maturity Consignment will be at the Grace Pavilion. We are planning to put signs down there, guiding these families our direction. More Mini Gardens would be awesome, as would cake contest entries. We will extend the due date to April 24.
You MUST turn-in an application for the Cake Contest by Friday, to the 4-H office. NO day-of entries. Last year this caused a lot of hard feelings and even some tears. If we let one person do it, then we have to let all others. That does not work. REPS and CLUB LEADERS….please get the word out. Registration for Cake contest will close this Friday at 4:00pm. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you again for volunteering for your club.

How to get Buyers to Buy into You
Hello Sonoma County 4-H! My name is Savannah Schell and I am from Sonoma Valley 4-H. Over the past few months I have been working on my Emerald Star project. This year I am planning and hosting Sonoma County's first ever buyer's letter clinic. This program is designed for anyone who is or aspires to be involved with the market projects (4-H and FFA members, parents, leaders, and advisors welcome). I, along with some guest speakers, will go over how to write a buyer's letter, how to form business connections, and how to present yourself and your club in a formal manner.
The event will take place in the 4-H Center on Commerce Blvd. in Rohnert Park. The clinic is on the 26th of April (Sunday) between 5pm to 7pm. The seminar will include dinner and all is free of expense from the attendees. You will also receive the first debut of the guide How to Get Buyers to Buy into You, which will give you and your members a competitive edge in market at this year's fair, and subsequently, all fairs after that.
I am really excited to share all of this information with the county and I hope to see you all there! Please RSVP to alwaysavvy@gmail.com or (707) 364-2254 so we know how many guides and how much food to have.
SECTIONAL WINNERS are attached. See link at the bottom. Congratulations to all!
