The Live Oak 4-H Club's Craft project comprised of four members Danielle Nigro 11, Emily Hansen 11, Amy Morgue 11, and Jenny Bruno 11 have had a busy start to the new as we've completed two big community service projects.
In January, we made 11 tie blankets to donate to an organization called Project Linus who sends them to hospitals, social services, fire, police and EMTs and natural disaster relief organizations to disperse to children involved in traumatic events.
In February we made approximately 50 Valentine's Cards for Kids in area hospitals. We also collected items such as bubbles, coloring books and crayons, fun band-aids, and hot wheels cars to donate along with our cards to help cheer the kids spending their holiday in the hospital up.
It was a lot of fun making all the blankets and cards and learning the importance of giving to those less fortunate than you. I hope we made lots of kids smile when they got their cads or blankets and I'm excited to do it again next year.
