Approximately 70 people attended the Sheep Workshop on January 31st. We had 4-H and FFA members and 4-H members from both Calaveras and San Joaquin Counties.
Dr. Melissa VanLaningham was an excellent presenter and had great slides explaining all sorts of sheep information. She talked about animal health, how feed is digested, selecting a good project animal and lastly what the ideal carcass looks like in the slaughter house. Attendees commented that it was one of the most informative presentations on sheep that they had ever attended.
We would like to thank the San Joaquin 4-H Foundation for sponsoring the event; their generous donation is greatly appreciated by our sheep project members.
If you would like to see more workshops like this in the future, please let the 4-H County Council know! You can propose future events at a Council meeting, or contact one of the Executive Board members at the information provided here.
