Being Active Can Lead to a Healthy Lifestyle for a Lifetime
Physical activity is important for everyone. Being active promotes lifelong health and well-being, prevents various health conditions, keeps our bodies at a healthy weight, boosts learning and mental growth and development, and benefits our mental health. Also, physical activity increases various brain chemicals, like serotonin, that may have one feeling happier and more relaxed. The 2008 US Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years have 60 minutes (1 hour) or more of physical activity each day.
