JOB OPENING :: Agricultural Technician

Agricultural Technician for Weed Science Program at Rice Research Station (Biggs, CA)*

Starting date: ASAP

Position: Full-time (40 hrs/week) for 4-5 months

Job summary:

• With supervision, set up and establish field and greenhouse experiments at the Rice Experiment Station in Biggs, CA (position is located at station)*
• Supervised maintenance of greenhouse and field experiments.
• Identify and count weeds and weed seeds after minimal training
• Some data entry in Microsoft Excel.

Qualifications:

• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Able to identify and count seedling weeds and germinating weed seeds after minimal training.
• Willing to have a flexible work schedule, including weekend hours to accommodate the biological requirements of a rice crop and the associated weeds.
• Able to perform general greenhouse work.
• Able to understand and follow University regulations and safety protocols.
• Have and maintain a valid California driver's license.
