Biography

Gregorio Billikopf is a Labor Management Farm Advisor with the University of California (since 1981) and named ad honorem Visiting Professor of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Chile (since 2005). His agricultural extension research and teaching efforts have focused on such topics as employee selection, piece rate design, incentive pay, internal wage structure, quality control, performance appraisal, discipline and termination, supervision, interpersonal negotiation skills, conflict resolution, and mediation. Billikopf is the recipient of the 1989 National Association for County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) Achievement Award and the 2006 Distinguished Service Award. He has received a number of other awards from NACAA, including two National Winner communication awards: Best Webpage and Best Publication (for his book Labor Management in Agriculture: Cultivating Personnel Productivity, 2nd Edition, 2003). Billikopf is also author of Party-Directed Mediation: Facilitating Dialogue between Individuals (2014, 3rd edition). These two books are also available in Spanish, Administración Laboral Agrícola (2nd Edition, 2002) and Mediación Interpersonal (4th edition, 2014). Gregorio has been a guest speaker throughout the United States, as well as in Russia, México, Canada, Argentina, Uganda, Colombia, New Zealand, and his native Chile. He has presented his two mediation models at the International Association for Conflict Management in Spain (2005) and Japan (2009). He has a BS in Plant Science from UC Davis, and a special major Masters with an emphasis on organizational psychology from CSU Stanislaus. He now returns to the South of Chile with his wife, where he hopes to provide community training for mediators and continue work in mediation and labor productivity.
