Ag organizations host an 'ag summit' at UC Davis today

Agricultural leaders are gathering today at UC Davis to discuss emerging issues and trends in agriculture at the California Ag Summit, said a UC Davis news release. The event is "dedicated to preserving and enhancing the vitality of the agricultural industry."

Under the theme, "Exploring New Industry Realities," presenters will address the the hydraulic sustainability of agriculture in California, the dynamics of the California political process and future societal trends.

The summit is organized and supported by a committee of agricultural organizations, including

  • California Cattlemen’s Association
  • California Farm Bureau Federation
  • California Agricultural Leadership Foundation
  • California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom
  • Meta Research & Marketing
  • Monsanto
  • Moss Adams LLP
  • Simplot Grower Solutions
  • Union Bank, N.A.
  • Wilbur-Ellis Company

Registrants paid $90 each to participate in the conference; many of the summit expenses are covered by cash contributions from sponsors.

Proceeds from the conference will be used to establish an annual financial gift program designed to help support education and leadership among the agriculture industry's future leaders, according to the ag summit's website. The goal for the first year is to donate all net proceeds to the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom.
