Welcome to the 3^rd Annual California State 4-H Archery Shooting Sports Hybrid Tournament, sponsored by the Merced County 4-H Council – May 26^th, 2024!

For the third time, this is a hybrid Tournament.  There will be both a postal match and an in-person match for this Tournament! The Postal targets must be returned postmarked by May 28^th due to the holiday and the in-person tournament will occur Sunday, May 26^th. This will not give any unfair extra practice time to either group. This schedule allows travel on Saturday and Monday of the Memorial Day weekend.

Registration will be due on or before March 22^nd, 2024.   Entry fees may be paid ONLY by check from the local 4-H council.  Make checks payable to Merced County 4-H, and send to: Merced County 4-H, 2145 Wardrobe Ave, Merced, CA 95341 with your club's entry form.

Categories:

1. Longbow – no sights (wooden arrows only)
2. Recurve bow - no sights
3. Recurve bow – with sights
4. Compound bow – no sights
5. Compound bow – with sights  
6. Archery leaders (50 yards only, 18 arrows).

4-H members entry fee is $10 for the first category, they may enter up to 2 additional categories at a $5.00 entry fee for each additional category (ie: 3 entries = $20, 2 entries = $15). 4H Members attending the in-person tournament entry will include lunch for the day of the in person match.  Lunch will be available for leaders and families attending the event at a nominal fee for each person (to be determined). The in-person tournament will be using whistle commands only and USAA timings. Please prepare 4-H youth for this type of commands and time limitations. Entrants will shoot only 18 arrows total (2 ends of 3 arrows each) at each of 3 distances and only score those 18 arrows.

For both the Postal and the in-person tournament - This is an 18-arrow event.  There should only be 18 holes in each target. The same target will be moved and shot at each distance. All shooting must take place in the leader or match official’s presence.

The intent of this tournament is to reach out to all 4-H Archery Projects with both a postal match and “an in-person match”. The in-person match is designed to be a “tournament fair” with manufacturer vendors, local shops, lunch service, and a fun atmosphere allowing networking and friendships to develop. There may well be some “side matches” as well.  We have some awesome prizes lined up for both the Postal and in-person competitions! Manufacture and local shop “tournament deals” will be available at the in-person tournament encouraging in-person attendance with free camping/RV’ing.
