We at Marin Master Gardner’s Pruning Guild invite Napa County Master Gardeners and members of the public to join us - Wednesday, July 10, for “Woody Plants Biology” with Chris Ingram, Certified Aesthetic Pruner and terrific lecturer.

Program:  The MMG Pruning Guild will begin its 2024/25 public lecture series with two recorded zoom classes with live Q and A with the presenter, Chris Ingram.  The first, “Woody Plants Biology,” will cover the basic biological functions of woody trees and shrubs, including how they obtain nutrients, their growth habits, wound response, and related functions.  This class, along with the second class in the Pruning Guild lecture series, “Introduction to Aesthetic Pruning,” scheduled for Wed., August 7, provides essential, fundamental, information for individuals who prune or who wish to understand the whys and how’s of pruning.*  These classes are highly recommended for those wishing to join future Pruning Guild Lectures on more specific topics.
 
* Aesthetic Pruning is the pruning of small trees and shrubs in the Japanese style.
 
Speaker:  Chris Ingram is a professional, Certified Aesthetic Pruner (AP) and an arborist with 30+ years of experience in arboriculture and pruning.  He is a graduate of the Merritt College Horticultural Program.  Until recently, Merritt’s AP Program was the only one of its kind in the world.  Chris teaches AP classes at Merritt and has taught classes for the arborist certification.  He’s lectured to groups all over the Bay area and beyond, including, to name a few, Filoli, the Palo Alto Garden Club, Elizabeth Gamble Garden, the SF Rec and Park Dept., the San Mateo Arboretum, and the Carmel Valley Art and Garden Show.  Chris owns and operates  Mr. Prune Tree Service with full arboriculture services and special emphasis on pruning of ornamental, exotic, fruit, and native trees, and the rehabilitation of old trees..
