32nd Annual UCR Urban Pest Management Conference (UCR UPMC) was held at UCR Campus (HUB Conference Rooms) on March 28, 2023. Over 120 attendees (including 114 registered conference attendees and sponsors from urban pest management industry) and several students (graduates and undergraduates) from UCR Entomology urban entomology program enjoyed this one day (8AM - 4:30PM) educational event, which was filled with many useful and interesting talks. Dr. Vernard Lewis from UC Berkeley (emeritus) has provided our annual Ebeling Memorial Lecture, going over the rich and diverse tradition of urban entomology work in the western US, including California, and University of California system.

2022 UCR Fumigation School was successfully held on September 14-15, 2022 at Kellogg West Conference Center, Cal Poly Pomona. With >50 participants, the event included talks on termite biology, physical properties of fumigants, and bed bug and fumigation etc. Other regulatory topics were also important part of the Fumigation School. On the second day of the event, the participants went to one of the local structures where the fumigation preparation was ongoing to learn important steps and requirements of the structural fumigation process in California.

The 31st Annual UCR Urban Pest Management Conference was held at UCR HUB (Highlander Union Building) Conference rooms on March 22, 2022. We had over 120 participants from urban pest management industry, state agencies, chemical manufacture, and other educational / research institutes.

Benning Le, a MS student from the Choe laboratory successfully defended his MS thesis today (March 9, 2022). Benning's thesis research was on the development and laboratory / field testing of boric acid hydrogel bait targeting Argentine ant populations in agricultural settings. Benning is one of the students who went through our department's new graduate program, the combined BS+MS (4+1) program.

Mark's PhD dissertation title is:
"Wash-Off Potential of Pyrethroids After Use of Total Release Foggers and the Chemical Ecology of Bed Bugs (Heteroptera: Cimicidae)".
