I spoke with Grant Scheve of Oregon Biochar Solutions, makers of Rogue biochar (https://www.chardirect.com/) . Rogue biochar is made from Douglas fir and pine from woody biomass from local logging and mill residues, and is thus all wood straight from the forest. Production is 45,000 cubic yards per year of 83% carbon biochar with uniform particle size, a hydrogent to carbon ratio of .25, average surface area of 500 square meters per gram and less than 10% ash content and pH of 9.5-10. pH 9.5-10.

Oroville, Ca, June 18, 2018 – Today at Riverbend Park in Oroville, Ca. World Cup Soccer is sharing the limelight with another big soccer story closer to home. The soccer fields at Riverbend Park sustained substantial damage from flooding during the spillway event. Feather River Recreation and Park district has taken a great step in building a more resilient and environmentally sound soccer field complex for the community.
We have found we no longer have the human or financial assets to battle forest fires as they are burning larger and more intense due to our climate. Working with public and private foresters to build distributed clean biomass reduction sites at a community level works. The numbers prove the lack of access to those public lands for outdoor recreation is one of the greatest public health and economic risks we have.
The Outdoor Industry Association Is now a $887 billion industry it drives 7.6 million jobs across the us & brings $65.3 billion in federal & $59.2 billion in state | local tax revenue annually - that's bigger than oil, gas and pharma combined.
Riverbend Park Scores Water Savings At Soccer Fields With Oyster X SmartSink.
Living X Elements announced the launch of the first Oyster X SmartSink a soil amendment solution to save water and store carbon in the soil At The Sustainable Brands Show in Vancouver BC earlier this month. The Oyster X SmartSink platform is designed to create a transparent full chain of custody for clean biomass waste sources such as forestry, agriculture and specific urban sources and return them to the landscape as a Smart X Char bio carbon. The platform is underpinned by a soon to be released carbon standard by Living X Elements and its standards partners.
Why Oyster X SmartSink? Our SmartSinks mimic how an oyster works in our waterways. Each oyster in the wild can pump up to 50 gallons of water a day through its body, filtering many volatiles like Co2, methane and nitrate and sequester them.
Oyster X SmartSink helps mitigate storm water runoff to our waterways to help natural oyster banks thrive. The Smart XChar bio carbon soil amendment is derived from beetle kill pine trees impacted by the drought gripping forests across the West.
The soil amendments water savings, carbon storage and soil health data will be tracked and shared publically.
