So the rooms are all gone-what are we supposed to do for lodging? I will expect a full refund if there is no lodging....

I think we can recognize that this is a frustrating situation not only for conference attendees but for the conference planning committee and all the program staff involved. When the venue was chosen in 2012, the Tenaya Lodge had adequate lodging accommodations for the conference (based on conference numbers from 2011). The response to the 2014 conference has simply exceeded expectations - I consider this an exciting situation for all of us, indicative of our growth as a UC Master Gardener community. I ask that we please all practice patience as attendees locate roommates and release un-needed rooms. Additionally, the statewide staff is working on a second hotel contract that will provide additional lodging. As promised, we will work hard to keep everyone informed. Thank you all for your enthusiasm over the conference and for your support as we seek solutions.
Sincerely,
Missy

Is there any camping near by???? Has that been discussed as an option??? I would consider attending if you could give a list of campgrounds. I have a small self-contained trailer. Thanks!

Hi Linda,
The Summerdale Campgrounds were recommended by the Tenaya Lodge, they are located 1.1 miles outside of the hotel's entrance. http://goo.gl/76pKff

Hi Linda,
We understand that Summerdale camp ground is a mile away from the Tenaya Lodge (just inside the gate to Yosemite). For folks in motor homes, unfortunately, the Tenaya Lodge won't be able to accommodate motor homes within their parking lot; however, parking will be available for cars/trucks that drive in each day for the conference. Here is a web link to the Mariposa County Tourism Bureau for more lodging/camping information: http://www.yosemiteexperience.com/
Thanks!

I checked with the Forest Service @ Bass Lake Ranger Station, and they told me that Summerdale is closed after Labor Day...so that is not an option! Will keep investigating!!!

Hello fellow gardening enthusiasts, my name is Karen. I am currently a Master Gardener Trainee in Tuolumne County. I can already tell I have joined an extraordinary group of people. I look forward to networking more during my future volunteering, and at the event in October.

I highly recommend lodging arrangements in Groveland, CA. I have personally worked for both businesses listed below. They are wonderful employers and provide excellent hospitality services. Supporting reviews can be found on Trip Advisor.

YOSEMITE ROSE BED & BREAKFAST --- www_dot_yosemiterose_dot_com
... capacity 30+, space for horses

RED TAIL RANCH --- www_dot_red-tail-ranch_dot_com
... capacity 4+, space for horses

I am neighbors with these businesses, and we are all located only 20 miles from the Park, along Highway 120. It takes me only 35 minutes to get to Yosemite (but consider time for parking).

Availability is open for October! Just so you know of other options in the area, this is the website we would refer people to if we had no availability: www_dot_staynearyosemite_dot_com

Please support your local economy in Groveland. I love my cute small town! Please contact Yosemite Rose Bed & Breakfast or Red Tail Ranch if you have any questions about their lodging.

See you all in the Fall,

Karen

There are many hotel/motel options in Oakhurst and Bass Lake a 20-25 minute drive south on highway 41 from the Tenaya. There is a hotel within walking distance of Tenaya lodge and the Narrow Gauge Inn is about 15 minute drive south on 41. The Wawona campground inside the park 15 minutes away is open year round. The Redwood Lodge very close to Wawona has rooms, not sure if the Wawona Hotel will be open, all these places are closer than El Portal, Groveland and Mariposa

I made reservations at the White Chief Mountain Lodge. It is close to Tenaya. I can cancel up to October 4th.
