We are still in need of BBQers, grill loaders, pressure washers, Saturday set up and Sunday take down.

University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), Sonoma County is conducting a survey to determine the future direction of our local 4-H program. Your input is invaluable to this process. We want to make our local 4-H program an example that demonstrates leadership, community involvement and career building for our youth. Using this information, we will conduct a strategic planning session this May, which will create a framework for the next generation of 4-H leaders, members and our local program. Please use this opportunity to express your visions for a 4-H program that reaches new heights for our youth.

We only have ONE YOUTH signed up for STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE! If you are interested in going, please sign up online. Regular registration for State Leadership Conference (SLC) is DUE by APRIL 30th. This Thursday. After that there is an additional $50.00 late fee which will be absorbed by the person registering.
Enrollment will be done online at http://4h.ucanr.edu/4-H_Events/SLC/ You can pay by credit card or a check to the office. Please pay full amount and then after we know how many are attending, Council and Foundation will rebate partial fees. If you are interested in the round trip bus option, check that option and do not request a parking pass. As always, we need chaperones. Council will pay for the needed amount. Please contact Diana or Judy. Chaperone due date is also on the 30th.
Once again, the SR Entertainment Group is offering a Kids Summer Movie Series. This fun package is available
at 10 AM on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at the 3rd Street Cinemas, and Thursdays & Fridays at the Airport Cinemas
(see dates attached). The cost is only $15.00 for the entire 9-week series!
I & R needs your help! We are asking for nominations from our county for the State Golden Clover Awards. Deserving individuals and groups are out there, we just need to hear about them! $500 award check for winners! The Golden Clover Awards recognize outstanding achievements of members, volunteers, program staff, and groups within the 4-H Youth Development Program. As I mentioned at the CCC Meeting, our committee is small with a limited knowledge of the accolades of every member and volunteer, and would appreciate your help with nominations for this great honor. Below is the link for the Golden Clover categories and a deeper explanation of the award. Please consider nominating someone from our county, we have so many generous volunteers and dedicated youth, let's get them recognized at this higher level! May 5 is the last date to turn them in...at the CCC meeting
Eligibility
- 4-H members who are at least 9 years old and currently enrolled
- 4-H volunteers who are currently enrolled
- 4-H groups
- 4-H program staff (academics are not eligible)
Groups are two or more 4-H members, volunteers, or 4-H program staff working together on a project, activity or event.
Award
- $500 award check
- Medallion
- Lapel pin
- Recognition on the State 4-H website
- Recognition at the 4-H State Leadership
Conference and State 4-H Leaders' Forum.
Group recipients receive one $500 award, one Medallion and each member of the team receives a lapel pin.

Highlights:
1. SLC registration closes April 30!
2. 2015-16 Advisory Committee Applications are open until May 31.
3. Animal Science Symposium registration closes May 1.
4. 4-H Higher Education Scholarships - Open to apply until June 1.
Announcement 1: The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is sponsoring two, 2-day poultry training courses (one in Davis and one in LosAngeles). Goal: To increase the basic skills and knowledge of people who already work with backyard poultry owners. To increase the basic skills and knowledge of people who do not currently work with backyard poultry owners but are interested in doing so and see the value in applying this knowledge.
When and Where:
- UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Monday, June 22 to Tuesday, June 23, 8am to 5pm
- Pierce Junior College Farm in Los Angeles, Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26, 8am to 5pm
Cost: The course registration fee including lunch is covered by the CDFA.
Registration Deadline: Registration is limited so please respond by Friday May 1st.
Course content: The two-day course will be lecture and lab based. Course material will include food safety, public health, animal health, necropsy skills, husbandry skills and welfare & behavior. Instructors will include experts from the CDFA, California Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) laboratory system, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, UC Davis Cooperative Extension and the UC Davis Department of Animal Science.
