We have Valley carpenter bees foraging in our white sage. Today, I saw another bee on the back of the black female carpenter bee. It did not look like the yellow fuzzball above, but was mostly black with yellow on the front parts. It took some doing with my small digital pocket camera, but I got shots of the two together (clearly not actually copulating) and each separately. Can I and you the pics and you could maybe ID them? The partly yellow guys were fending each other off and fighting around the bush. One even knocked the female carpenter bee to the ground. Odd...
