Sonoma County Hosts 2011 MG Conference

The vote is in!!! The winner is Sonoma County to be our host of the next Statewide Master Gardener Conference. The conference will be held at the Hyatt in Santa Rosa, May 18, 19 and 20, 2011. Mark your calenders now to save the days. If you have ideas or interest in helping to make the event wonderful, please do not hesitate to contact the statewide office. Some of the committees we are looking to fill include: Search for Excellence, The MG Store, The Welcome Event, Poster Session, Registration, and so much more! Sonoma County MGs will take the lead on local arrangements, and tours, among other things. We are so excited to be heading to the beautiful home town of Luther Burbank for our 5th MG conference in California. A Big thank you to Sonoma County MGs for the opportunity. We also want to thank both Marin County MGs and the San Joaquin County MGs for throwing their hat into the ring as well.

This article states "beautiful home town of Luther Burbank"
Indeed Sonoma County claims this world famous gardener;, but his home is in Santa Rosa and the Farm where he conducted most of his experiments is here in Sebastopol. Will we be offering tours to visiting MG's. If so, I suggest Burbank Farm and I would volunteer to arrange docent-led tours here. Or I 'll help in any other capacity in which I am qualified.

I am in the new class of Master Gardeners in San Diego. I would love to attend this conference and help in any way possible. I am only a student now.

I am a Master Gardener and will be attending the Statewide Master Gardener Conf. in Sonoma Co. What kinds of items are generally sold at the MG Store and how does one apply to sell at the MG Store? Louise Gooding, missmarie11@comcast.net

While working on the State Board of Master Gardeners in North Carolina I always did photography and then at the evening dinner showed a powerpoint of the events during the seminars ...if you check NCMGVA website you'll see so many of my pictures from such events, if you don't have someone to help do that at the upcoming State Event I'd love to help. I live in San Diego and would love to help make this a great event.
