The list of fourteen winners contains only two non-coastal sources. Is there significance in that?

Amina Harris, director of the UC Davis Honey and Pollination Center and co-chair of the honey category, says:

The Good Food Awards are given out in five regions of the United States. A link to these regions is here: http://www.goodfoodawards.org/the-awards/regions/
We encourage beekeepers from all over the country to enter the awards in order to have a great representation of honeys from across the nation. That said, more enter from the ‘Western Region’ than any other. Note that the ‘West’ does not include Oregon or Washington. They are part of the North! And generally, the ‘East’ is second with entries.
I understand that your question has to do with ‘coastal’ winners. Please note the land locked states – or those bordered by the Great Lakes that had winners last year: Nevada, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. It does not seem so imbalanced when looking at it from this perspective.

The list of winners follows broken into region:
East:
Bee’s Needs, Marvelous May, New York
C&C Orchards, Wildflower Honey, Massachusetts
Gold Star Honeybees, Gold Star Honeycomb, Maine
Tewksbury Honey, Spring Harvest, Massachusetts
Central:
Ann’s Raspberry Farm/Voracious Honey, Raspberry Blossom, Ohio
Bear Creek Organic Farm, Boyne Honey, Michigan
Crusher Honey, Crusher Honey, Illinois
Mad Urban Bees, Urban Honey, Wisconsin
South:
Bee Wild, 100% Pure and Raw Sourwood Honey, Georgia
MtnHoney, Spring Wildflower, Georgia
Williams Honey Farm, Wildflower Honey, Tennessee
North:
Old Blue Raw Honey, Harlan: Bigleaf Maple & Harlan: Wild Blackberry, Oregon
Sequim Bee Farm, Blackberry Honey, Washington
West:
Hall’s Honey, Raw Extracted Honey, Nevada
Miss Bee Haven Honey, Star Thistle Honey Comb, California
Playflight Honey, Kelsey Creek Spring Raw Honey, California
