Merced County 4H Fashion Revue, Food Faire and Home Arts Show
By Lucas Doiel
It is spring at last and the Merced county 4H sewing groups were able to show-off their new attire at the county 4H Fashion Revue. Fashion Revue took place at First Baptist Church on April 10 from nine to two. Also at this event were the Food Fair and Home Arts Show. There were many great activities to do this year. One of the activities was making your own beaded macramé bracelets. Another was a community service project making tied blankets and you could dress up your own manikin with scarves. Another thing that was happening was the Food Fiesta. There were many blue and red ribbon winners for the different food categories.
The sewing groups that participated in Fashion Revue were from St. Anthony’s 4H and Our Lady of Fatima 4H. Everyone signed in at nine o’clock for Fashion Revue. At ten all the participants went to the judging house and waited for their turn to be judged. After judging all the kids went back to the main building to get instructions to know how to walk on stage. After that it was time to model their entries. Here are the lucky county winners: Joselyn Campos, traditional, junior; Tess Schoonhoven, traditional, intermediate; Ashleigh Thrasher, traditional, senior; Corie Falaschi, challenge, junior; Asia Reyna, challenge, intermediate; and Lucas Doiel, challenge, senior. The county winners get to go on to the state Fashion Revue in May. There were many gold and silver winners, as well.
