Some species of birds can cause substantial damage to ripening fruit and nuts. Damage and management methods vary depending on bird species.
UC ANR’s Birds on Tree Fruits and Vines publication provides much information to reduce this type of fruit loss. Many pictures show damage that can be caused by different birds, as well as the birds themselves.
Identification, directions for monitoring populations, and management suggestions are also included. This free resource can be viewed here.
