Presentation Field Day in 2021 will have a different look and feel, but we are doing our best to have the event in a way we can all participate in.
This year Presentation Field Day will not be an in-person event, but we will have all of the contests we have had in the past. Below will be a break down of the event contest by contest and how you can participate. Links and zooms will be emailed out to everyone when the event gets closer.
Presentations:
1. Presentations will be recorded and submitted to Callie by 5:00 pm. March 16th.
a. All the normal presentation formats are available for youth to choose from. For more information about 4-H Presentations please check out the manual.
b. Presentations will be evaluated and awards will be announced on March 21st at 4:00 pm
c. Impromptu Speech- Youth wanting to do an impromptu speech will need to contact Callie, and we will set up a time for them to receive their topic and record their speech. There will be a time limit between receiving their topic and submitting their recording.
i. For Senior members, ages 14-18, Impromptu Speech Topics are:
1. Democratic Process (Civic Engagement)
2. Inspiring Others (Leadership)
ii. For Intermediate members, ages 11-13, Impromptu Speech Topics are:
1. My Community
2. My Heritage
e. Presentations will be judged March 17-20 and awards will be announced on Sunday at 4:00. Each viewing of the presentation by judges will count as one 4-H talk.
f. Presentations will not be judge by quality of recording, but youth will need to be visible and posters or slides will need to be visible in recording.
2. Judging Contest: Opens March 17th at 8:00am closes March 21st at 3:00pm
a. Contest will be a Google survey. Youth will have 1 opportunity to compete in the contest.
b. Contest will be split up by 4-H age groups.
3. Identification Contest: Opens March 17th at 8:00am closes March 21st at 3:00pm
a. Contest will be a Google survey
b. 2 contests, youth will be able to pick 1 or do both and their best score will be used.
c. Contest will be split up by 4-H age groups.
4. Poster Contest: “Why I Joined 4-H!”
a. Poster will be on poster board. 4-H office has poster boards.
b. Picture of poster submitted to Callie by 5:00 pm on March 16th.
c. Poster will be later turned into the 4-H office for display.
d. Poster will be evaluated by the picture submitted.
5. Presentation Workshops
a. California 4-H Presentation Manual, and sample presentations can be found here.
b. Zoom workshop March 9th and 11th at 4:00 pm. Links to zoom meetings will be shared closer to the event.
