Thank you for identifying my mystery bug! I've been wondering what they are since I moved into this house. They don't seem to be eating any of my plants; I usually just see them milling about in my driveway Fall and Spring. I think they come from the shrubbery along the driveway. In any case they don't seem to be causing any harm so I'll just live & let live. I also read they feed on weeds and I'm all for that!
Thanks again,

Good morning. I live in York, Pa. and i saw a huge bee on Sunday afternoon. I looked like a yellow jacket or wasp. It had a huge lower body that had brillian yellow lines on top of black. The lines were very big with a little black showing through. It had a space between the bottom body and the top and i do belive the top body was black. It had very long antenna's and it scanned the concrete patio with them. It didn't seem agressive but it did fly, although it seemed to heavy to fly, it did fly and it finally saw me and tried to check me out but i had a broom in my hand and slowly swooshed it away. It was so HUGE. Any idea?? Thank you.

Hi, Perhaps it was the European wool carder bee, Anthidium manicatum? I have some posted on my Flickr account. http://www.flickr.com/photos/pho-tog/7584016382/in/set-72157630605909108
