Food safety is a very important issue when it comes to serving food to the public or just within our group of volunteers. Recently we asked everyone to read the article "Cooking for Groups." There is now an online quiz based on this reading. We are asking that each and every Master Gardener take some time to read this article and take the online quiz.
Please follow this link to find the reading only: http://camastergardeners.ucdavis.edu/files/42278.pdf
Please follow this link to find the reading and quiz: http://ucce.ucdavis.edu/survey/survey.cfm?surveynumber=3214
Please remember to log-in and record this as one hour of continuing education on the Master Gardener website! Thank you for your time and all the wonderful meals that are prepared with so much thought and kindness!

All prospective new University of California Master Gardeners of San Luis Obispo County are invited to attend an informal information session at the UC Cooperative Extension Auditorium.
There will be experienced Master Gardeners present to answer any questions and describe the various activities that Master Gardeners are actively participating in. There will also be textbooks and curriculum present to give a good idea to new-comers what the education material entails.
If you know anyone who has shown an interest in learning more about the Master Gardeners, this is the perfect opportunity for them to come and learn first-hand!

Hello to you all! Rumors are true - she's baaaaaccckkk!! I am very happy to bring two bits of good news!
First, I have returned to work full-time as of October 6th. Thanks to all of you for the cards, emails, good wishes, and support through the past 4 months. There have been countless times where your kindness came at just the right time to make my day better. While these months have been a brand new rich experience, we are glad to be moving on!
And, not to be over-shadowed, the Demonstration Garden Committee's patience and persistence has paid off - our use permit has been fully executed!! That means we can move forward with our plans to develop a Garden dedicated to MG goals and programs. Speaking of plans, I've included the DRAFT Garden Plan, in case you haven't seem the latest.
And an image of the site on which our garden will grow!
Hope to see you at the General Meeting this Thursday.

This is our first official posting on our blog!
We are creating this particular blog for internal announcements, education, instruction, updates and communication about any and all events. We are planning on creating a second blog for the public, which will be for the specific goal of educating and publicizing our educational events. The most recent posting will always pop up on the front page of the Master Gardener (VMS) website, if you click on the posting, it will lead you to the full blog, where you can read all the previous posts.
A few features to point out about using the the Master Gardener VMS website:
Even if you are computer savvy, you may still want to follow the new on-line tutorial that steps through the features found on the website. Just click "Help" (top right hand corner) and then click on "General Information". Make sure you have your volume turned up, to hear the tutorial. You'll notice there is a tutorial for the photo album.... You may want to follow this because we are happy to say that we have 3 albums posted and more to come!
