As far as I can tell, several social media trends are emerging. Here are some of my observations:
2. Privacy. Privacy has been a hot topic for awhile now. This seems to be a trend with older generations using social media. Younger generations don't seem to be as concerned. Just remember - no one is forcing you to post anything online. You're in control of what you say and how you come across.
3. Personality. More and more brands using social media are developing personalities, and are coming across as friendly, personable, funny, and approachable. Customers don't want you to be a company online. They want you to be a company that acts like a person - they want to be able to relate to you.
4. Information overload. Our information comes from so many different places now, and all at the same time. It's not enough for a company to have a television campaign anymore. Now they have to have a television campaign that matches their email campaign that matches their website that matches their social media campaign. Keeping brands and messages consistent across all channels is vital.
