The USDA People’s Garden Initiative has announced fall webinar garden training. These trainings are free and available to everyone. Once the series is over, the classes will be stored on this website for viewing.
These trainings focus on sustainable gardening practices and will be taught from experts from around the country. Topics are as follows:

- Introduction to Seed Saving
- Pollinators for Your Garden
- Food Stamps Grow Gardens!
- Extending the Growing Season

As a reminder next Saturday, September 22 the gardening workshop, Exploring Soil Types will be held at the Thousand Oaks Goebel Center. The workshops are available to people of all ages.
In October, UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will hold a Gardening Myth Solutions Workshop designed for home gardeners. This event will also be held at the Thousand Oaks Goebel Center. The program will run from 9:45 – 11:30 am on Saturday, October 22.

UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will hold an Exploring Soil Types Workshop designed for home gardeners at the Thousand Oaks Goebel Center on Saturday, September 24 from 9:45 – 11:30 am.
Topics covered will include:
- identifying soil textures and types
- keeping garden soils fertile
- how to compost and add plant nutrients

UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will hold a Learn about Pesticides and Herbicides Workshop designed for home gardeners at the Thousand Oaks Goebel Center on Saturday, August 27 from 9:45 – 11:30 am.
Topics covered will include: herbicide and pesticide labeling, proper use, application, using the best alternatives for the pest.

UC Master Gardeners will hold the next workshop in the Mastering Your Home Garden Seasonal Workshop Series on Saturday, August 20. The workshop will be held from 8:15 to noon at the UC Hansen Agricultural Center. Optional hands-on activities will follow the workshop.
Scheduled Autumn in the Garden Workshop topics will cover garden pests and herb gardens. Additional information can be found on the Master Gardener website or by contacting Leah Haynes at 805-645-1450 or ljhaynes@ucdavis.edu.
Attendees will also be able to receive a docent-guided farm house and garden tour.
