Designed to share current knowledge about the goldspotted oak borer (GSOB), the upcoming workshops will provide the best information available. Land managers, parks and campground personnel, arborists, landscape professionals and other responsible for the stewardship of oaks and oak woodlands are encouraged to attend.
Co-sponsored by the national Park Service, Southern California Society of American Foresters, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, USDA Forest Service and the University of California Cooperative Extension this event will offer attendees access to specialists and scientists with experience with GSOB and related oak woodland issues.

- Best management practices

- Hands-on display
GSOB workshops will be held throughout southern California over the next several months. A workshop is scheduled in Thousand Oaks on January 12, 2011 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Continuing Education Units have been requested from: California Department of Pesticide Regulation, International Society of Arboriculture, Southern California Society of American Foresters, and the California Urban Forests Council.

This year’s Turfgrass and Landscape Research Field Day will be held on September 16, 2010 at University of California Riverside.
The event is intended for industry professionals; however, the general public is also welcome to attend. Homeowners will find useful information on the care and maintenance of home lawns and landscapes.
Scheduled topics for the field day include:
- Groundcovers for water-conserving landscapes
- Annual bluegrass control in bentgrass greens
- Kikuyugrass breeding and genetics
- Can certain fungicides and PGRs improve turfgrass water use efficiency?
- Drought tolerance of fescues, ryegrasses and their hybrids

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR) now has online continuing education classes designed to help applicators meet the required hours of education needed to keep licenses and certificates valid.
The courses were developed by the Fresno County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office and are approved for statewide use. Classes currently offered are: Respiratory Protection Regulation CCR 6739 (a-s) and Employer Responsibilities for Fieldworkers: Hazard Communication.

The Ventura County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office will be hosting a series of continuing education opportunities in Laws & Regulations.
