Biography

College degrees in communications and journalism, with expertise as newspaper editor, publications editor, photographer, science writer, insect photographer and photo editor. Long-time agriculturist (born and reared on 300-acre farm) and 4-H volunteer. Co-author of Aquatic Pest Control book, ANR publication, with Patrick O'Connor-Marer. Credentials include: recipient of national and international awards for writing, editing and photography. Outstanding professional skill awards in writing and photography from ACE (Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences), an international association of communicators and information technologists. Bug Squad named one of the top 10 bug blogs in the world by a New York firm. Passion: capturing images of insects, especially honey bees.  I come from a long line of beekeepers.
