Description | The photo was taken in Skyline Wilderness Park (Napa) in July. I loved how the morning light on the butterfly wings produced a stained glass effect. The monarch caterpillars eat only milkweed while the adults feed on nectar from various nectar-rich flowers such as sunflower, goldenrod and buckwheat. Over the last three years, I’ve planted native milkweed and nectar plants in my garden to help increase the monarch population. |
