Description | Taken on June 17, 2015 at the Haagen Dasz Honey Bee Haven near the U. C. Davis campus. Male carpenter bees are seldomly seen, so it was a rare treat to find and photograph this fuzzy tan “teddy bear.” The bee’s captivating greenish eyeballs stared at me while it hugged the vibrant purple blooms of Mexican bush sage and pierced them to suck out the nectar. |
